We are looking for System Engineers for a fresh, young, and rapidly growing company that develops and manufactures large-scale industrial 3D metal printers for high-end metal parts. The company offers a modular system called MetalFAB, specifically aimed at high-end and demanding markets such as aerospace, automotive, energy, and high-tech equipment. Based in the Netherlands, the company is a major player in high-volume metal printing systems worldwide.

About the job

They currently have two positions open for a systems engineer to join both the Research & Development team and the Engineering team. Their product creation process is based on the principles of the V-model, where the system engineer will be responsible at the system function level.

As a system engineer, you will operate on both sides of the V-model, which means you will be primarily responsible for defining functional requirements and design specifications for one (or more) system functions of their MetalFAB system.

You will provide input to higher system level specifications and lower level module specifications and work closely with their system architects, mechanical designers, and software developers.

You are also responsible for the integration process of (sub)modules, functions, or systems, involving both hardware and software. You define functional test specifications, execute or monitor test plans and ensure that test results are properly reported. As a result, you realize and verify the required functional performance and further build knowledge and experience with these system functions including proper product documentation.

Finally, you also support the troubleshooting and the issue resolution process when issues arise with released products related to your system function responsibility.

About you

For this job, we are looking for someone with the following profile:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar.
• At least 3 years of experience with complex mechatronic modules and/or systems, preferably in a high-tech environment;
• You have experience in defining requirements and design specifications;
• You have experience with the integration process, defining and executing test plans, including reporting;
• You have experience with software packages for system analysis (e.g., MATLAB, Python);
• You are familiar with product development according to the V-model;
• You have strong analytical qualities and a structured approach;
• You have excellent communication skills;
• You are fluent in English.
